Fall 2016 Update
I am pleased to share some highlights of the last year in government and from our community of Edmonton – Mill Woods.
Just recently, all three levels of government announced special joint funding for the drainage infrastructure that will help prevent and mitigate against future flooding in the Mill Woods area. The province is contributing $11.9 million to this important project.
Many of you will have noticed that construction of the new Valley Line LRT has begun along 75/66 Street. The province is financing up to $600 million for this important jointly funded project that will change the way Mill Woods residents move around in our city.
This spring our province had the costliest and most devastating natural disaster in Canadian history. I am so proud of how the Mill Woods community and the rest of our province came together to support Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The kindness and the generosity that are the pillars of our community were on full display as so many pitched in to help our fellow Albertans out in their time of need.
Last January my constituency office held a Resource Fair, to try and highlight some of the many not-for-profit service providers that exist in our community. The event was incredibly well attended and so we’ll be doing that again, on Saturday January 21st of 2017, starting at 10:00am at the Mill Woods Seniors Activity Centre (2610 Hewes Way), which is the second floor of the new Mill Woods branch of the Edmonton Public Library, over near the Town Centre transit station. I hope you will come and join us for an informative and fun event.
Over the last year I have met with many community groups and residents, and it is always a delight to connect with everyone in our area. I try to make myself available for any community event that wants to have their local MLA in attendance, if you know of any such events please just call my office and let my team know and I’ll try my hardest to join you.
I am honoured to be your voice in the legislature. I welcome and encourage your comments, questions and suggestions. Please feel free to contact my office and share your vision for a better Alberta.
